A place where memories can be shared with family and friends is Snapchat. It was created by Reggie Brown, Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel as an instant messaging multimedia mobile application. The prime concept of this app is that the photo or video is only visible for a short time, and then it is deleted and become irretrievable. The idea behind this concept is that it would create a more natural flow of sociability. In October 2013 the “My Story” feature was introduced, that allowed the user to combine different photos together, in chronological order to create a coherent story so it could be more interesting to the user. Later it was expanded to Live Stories which offered even more versatility.
The primary users of Snapchat are millennials. In the beginning researchers hypothesized that the app would encourage sexting, but that proved incorrect when they realized it is primarily used for comic content. Snapchat attributed its success to its being simply fun rather than its security. In September of 2016 its founders introduced Spectacles, a pair of smart glasses capable of shooting short videos. Snapchat boasts 166 million daily users as of May 2017.
Originally Snapchat was named Picaboo by the founders Spiegel, Murphy and Brown. Spiegel and Murphy ask Brown to leave so after that they renamed the app Snapchat. Snapcash was introduced in November 2014 this feature allowed users to send cash over the application. Square powers this payment system. Snapchat acquired Bitstrips and its Bimoji in July 2016. This addition allows users to design stickers that use cartoon avatars. Spiegel commented that the messaging in Snapchat is more conversational than transactional. Other apps like iMessage did not give him the same conversational interactions. Read more snapchat hacks come visit our site.
